There is an unspoken reality in the philosophy of CW which
mandates that every participant has an obligation to make some
small contribution to the growth of the hobby. This is made
obvious by the fact that whenever the number of participants is not
increasing, it is otherwise decreasing through the SK effect.
The lifeblood of this pastime is new membership. Without
participants, we are ultimately confined to fisting messages to
ourselves and eventually taking our paddles into the box with us
rather than having our survivors sell them on eBay. If you
don't believe this, just listen in on the 30-meter band.
In other words,
as you struggle hard to become proficient in Morse code, keep on
saying over and over to yourself - "If I do nothing to promote
this hobby, I AM WASTING MY TIME HERE."
That
being said, if you find this free website and the exercises in it to be
useful, there's a way you can repay me for my effort and expense of publishing it.
Simply, share it! And the best way to share
it is to help it expand in the organic section of search
engines by linking it to other websites. Web crawlers can see these
inter-website links and when they do, the organic function of a search engine
moves the website further to the front with each link.
So if you believe that others can make use of this website and that
it may benefit CW on the whole, kindly link it to whatever website
that you may be running at the time. Even an obscure link at
the bottom of some back page will work if your website has nothing
to do with CW or ham radio. Every little bit helps to sustain Morse code.
And by the way, if you
like JLMC, it would probably be a good idea to make a small donation
to help keep this website going also. There is a donation link on
the main page.
